Bakersfield Heart Hospital Administered Free Peripheral Arterial Disease Screenings to the Residents of Kern County
September was P.A.D. Awareness Month. The Bakersfield Heart Hospital Offered Free
Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening’s (Also Known As P.A.D.) throughout the month. Our goal was to increase awareness of the risk factors and warning signs of peripheral artery disease. PAD occurs when arteries in the legs become narrowed or clogged with fatty deposits, reducing blood flow to the legs. The Symptoms of P.A.D. can include leg cramps during walking especially while on an incline, pain in the legs or feet while sleeping and sores that heal slowly or not at all. P.A.D can be life threatening and should not be ignored. During the Awareness month of September, we screened over 100 patients. The Bakersfield heart hospital would like to give a special thank you to the volunteers who helped make these screenings a success.
